Named the Barnes & Noble Book of the Year for 2023, the novel follows the residents of a small Pennsylvania town in the ’20s and ’30s. The New York Times calls it “a charming, smart, heart-blistering and heart-healing novel” and NPR says, “McBride looks squarely at savage truths about race and prejudice, but he also insists on humor and hope.” Haven’t read the book but interested in joining the club?
